Sam Peckinpah and Ben Templesmith Ride Again...in the rain.

Comments

The Wild Bunch is one of my favorite westerns and Peckinpah one of my favorite directors. It would sure be sweet to see it in the theater off an actual print. Around six months ago I remember hearing something about a remake being in preproduction. Sounds like a horrible idea to me as the original movie is perfect for what it is, but I'm sure that I would be the first in line to see it. I've also heard that there is a remake in the works for Peckinpah's Straw Dogs, so apparently it is cool to be remaking Peckinpah's stuff just like it is for John Carpenter.
Now that you mention it, the proposed remake does ring a bell. I've only just started to appreciate westerns in the last several years. I find them especially interesting to read against times of war in American history when they were produced. It's probable that I was the only person in the Egyptian who couldn't stop thinking about Vietnam as I was watching The Wild Bunch. (Unless, of course, there was some poor old vet in the audience who *never* stops thinking about 'Nam. But that's different.) I'd probably go see a remake, too. Just 'cause.
